The Searching film analysis

Today we all went down to Cineworld to watch ‘The searching’

In my opinion, this film was very well structured and produced. I loved the fact the whole film was filmed through a computer screen. I thought that worked extremely well and made it more relatable. It also made it stand out from other films. I thought the opening was very successful in the way it really had you emotionally hooked with the characters. There was many plot twists throughout that were gripping and intense, although some where unrealistic because they happened so soon although it all helped to create such an interesting twisted story. I noticed the use of sound throughout was very effective, it enhanced the tense atmosphere and was used very significantly, when someone was thinking, during action, during reveals, when something didn’t go to plan. The repeated use of non diegetic sound complimented the visuals giving that ‘on the edge of your seat’ effect. Infact, it gave me some inspiration for some up coming projects.

I think the end was a little to speedy and could have been dragged out a bit longer in order to create more emotional impact then there was, the final reveal I felt was to fast and completely changed the pace of the film although I can understand why that could have been done for tension building purposes.

Overall, I would definitely recommend ‘the searching’ to anyone who hasn’t seen it. It was a great hooking film, one which makes you feel a little uneasy when you exit and that sparks conversation for sure.
