Reflection
Today we spent the first half of the lesson visiting Nottingham contemporary. This was particularly interesting as I am thinking of going down the video installation route for my FMP. This visit particularly benefited me because it gave me inspiration for my own ideas. I am now thinking about possibly going down the route of a live video installation, perhaps incorporating TV screens into my piece after being inspired from the different ways of displaying installation today.
My favourite piece of the day was definitely the first room we visited which was Elizabeth Price's 'FELT TIP' piece. 'FELT TIP' is highly ambitious show from Elizabeth Price featuring two immersive video installations with very architectural features. When we walked into the room the sound of the keyboard clicks coinciding with the text. This was the very first thing I noticed as it was very distinctive. In terms of visually, I was very fascinated by the layout of the room. On the floor there were sand bags as seats and on the walls were six large screens. Four of which were on the left hand wall and two were on the front wall, while the other walls where bare. I was particularly inspired by this piece because of the atmosphere it created. We were a little unsure what was going on until it was later explained, to which it all made sense in the end.
I will take great inspiration from this piece within my FMP, particularly with who the audience reciprocated it. I love the fact that the meaning is not too obvious meaning it can be interpreted differently. This is a concept I would like to experiment with myself.
