Questions to ask yourself?
What do their actions represent?
Do the lyrics explain the visuals?
Does the lip syncing match the track?
Is your music video going to include diegetic sound?
Does your video tell a story?
Narrative
Music videos often tell us a story. ''Videos tend to only suggest storylines to viewers, they focus on the fragments of the lyrics'' ---- Steve Archers
Some of the artist/performer will be incorporated within the story line, acting as the narrator and participant at the same time. This can also be done through actors, dancers or cameos.
Some of the music videos I looked at...
Bruno Mars - Just the way you are
Sia - Chandelier
Rihanna - Love the way you lie
Beyoncé - Walk on water
Eminem - Stan
Adele - Hello
Ava Max - Sweet but psycho
My Ideas
Prehaps concider a reverse music video.
Make lyrics on screen creative by having them on objects, drawn or painted for e.g. inspired by Bruno Mars and Sia music Videos.
Over film, its better to have more content than not enough.
Be very careful with lighting.
Ensure dancing fits to the beat of the song to match the conventions on the brief.
