Today i came in on my day off to complete my video installation edit, this took the whole day 9am to 5.45pm.. it is still not finalized and my sound still needs to be altered because i want to ensure it is perfect before i submit it.
Reflection
The most difficult part of the editing process for this project for me has to be getting the split screen correct, there is a lot that goes into a split screen than first meets the eye. This is because i edited two separate one minute video installations with their own sound and visuals effects and then i put them together and combined them both on screen using a split screen effect afterwards which meant i had to edit the sound all over again so that they didn't over lap, or if they did i made sure that it works.
I was very inspired by Sherin Neshat's use of split screen and decided this was something i wanted to incorporate into my own work to try something different. After now trying it, i really like the effect it gives to my work, watching my two individual pieces are not as powerful on their own than when they are combined through split screen. I am very pleased with how it is looking so far and cant wait to continue with it again tomorrow and see how the final edit turns out.
