We began today's lesson with tutorial time, following a lesson on our new project coming up.

Video installation project

In order for us to start thinking of our own ideas Marissa thought it would be a good idea to introduce us to the project by showing us some inspiration. I thought this was great because it gave us an idea on the sorts of things we will be producing in the lessons to come. It's always helpful seeing other peoples work as it can spark ideas and lead us in the right direction. I found it very interesting whitnessing previous years work and I actually connected with a lot of the content which really inspired me and allowed me to start thinking of my own possible ideas for when i come to produce my own video installation.

We then looked into famous work that has won awards and been largely exhibited globally...

  • Sherin Neshat - Strong feminist views, Religion, Culture, Visual art.

  • Bill Viola - Based upon life experiences, Water, Dualism, Birth, Death, Love, Emotions.

  • David Hall - Repetition, Genre, Social Control.

  • Nam June-paik - Experimental Sound, Multi media art, Explores humanity's ever changing relationship with technology.

  • Sam Taylor wood - Still life, Time lapse, Death, Decay.

We used google and you-tube to research the different types of work they produce and their extremely different styles each to their own.
